The staff of the Rio Grande City Public Library was recognized during the regular meeting of the City Commission of Rio Grande City, held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the RGC City Hall.

Annually, the Texas Municipal Libraries Directors Association presents the Achievement of Library Excellence Award upon public libraries in Texas that demonstrate outstanding contributions to their communities. Out of the 545 public libraries in Texas, only 84 received this prestigious honor in 2023. Among them was the Rio Grande City Public Library.

This marks the 7th consecutive year that the RGC Public Library has been honored with this recognition, placing them in the top 15% of public libraries in the state. The library's commitment to excellence and dedication to serving the community have earned them this distinction time and time again.

The Achievement of Library Excellence Award recognizes libraries that excel in various areas, including innovation, community engagement, and service provision. The Rio Grande City Public Library's consistent demonstration of these qualities has not gone unnoticed by both the local community and statewide organizations.

In accepting the award, library staff expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the City Commission and the community at large. They also look forward to continuing to provide top-notch services, resources, and programs to meet the diverse needs of Rio Grande City residents.

The recognition of the Rio Grande City Public Library emphasizes the vital role that libraries play in enriching communities and fostering lifelong learning. As a beacon of knowledge and a hub for community engagement, the library continues to make a significant impact on the lives of its patrons.
